Legal Question in Criminal Law in Minnesota
My 18 yo son has been arrested for domestic battery against my 17 yo daughter. She admitted to me that she lied about certain things in her statement to the police, but went back shortly after and said she must have dreamed she went to the hospital. She also failed to tell them that she was the initial aggressor. I'm not sure how to handle this as my son is being charged, and though I don't want my daughter to be in trouble, I'm afaid if she comes forward now to set thing straight, she could face charges of making a false statement. She's also concerned that the police didn't record her when she went back and told the truth about her fictitous hospital visit and that they didn't incorporate it into their report.

Contact an attorney immediately. Your son should not speak to the police.
