Legal Question in Criminal Law in Minnesota
If your adult child has a key to your home and also the security alarm code, if they enter the home when you aren't there to retrieve their personal belongings (that we are storing for them in boxes in our storage area) is that considered illegal? They are adults, living on their own/different residence after graduating from college.

The answer is one of credibility as to whether the person entering has consent to do so Since they have a key to the home, absent a specific written statement to the contrary, it could be believed tey had permission to enter. In other words, it would be a difficult criminal case for a prosecutor and not one that would likely be pursued.
