Legal Question in Criminal Law in Minnesota

Aiding and abedding/Kidnapping

I have a friend who went missing a few weeks ago. I don't have any idea of where he might be. He is on the run to avoid getting sent away to treatment. The police and everyone thinks i had something to do with it, or im involved. My question is...

1. can they put kidnapping and aiding and abedding charges like they threatned?

2. How much time am i facing if convicted?

3. If i talked to him, what should i do?

Re: Aiding and abedding/Kidnapping

My advise would be not to speak with the police if you feel they view you as a suspect. Speaking to them may bring you more harm than good. It is always best to speak to police through the assistance of an attorney, to be sure your rights are being protected.

What kind of treatment are we talking about? Chemical abuse treatment? Sex offender treatment?

I find it hard to believe they could charge you with kidnapping and/or aiding and abetting based solely on what you have written in your question. If you do have information and are not providing to the police, you could be charged with obstructing the legal process.

Again, its best to speak with an attorney before speaking to police.

I would be happy to assist you further if you need additional information.

First, do not discuss anything at all with police, nor this subject with anyone other than your lawyer.

Second, discuss this with a lawyer, and ideally retain a lawyer to help you. "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure."

Call me if you'd like to discuss.
