Legal Question in Criminal Law in Minnesota
after being arrested and held over night in jail i was awaiting court in the morning and they never sent me. after asking questions they stated to me that i didn't have to go to court and that they had dropped the charges then released me. later about 10 days i received a letter in the mail saying they were going to charge me.. so my question i am trying to have answered is how long does a police officer have to re open charges after dropping them?

The statute of limitations depends on the charge in question. However, the shortest statutory period is two years. As a result, you can be recharged at any point within two years so long as the case was not dismissed by the court with prejudice.
