Legal Question in Criminal Law in Minnesota
Someone I know has been assaulted and the police said there's not enough evidence even though the person admitted to the accusations. I'm doing research on what kind of lawyer to hire in this case. Most attorneys I've found are criminal defense lawyers. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

To answer your question, the type of lawyer, in general, depends on the situation. For instance, if the police are not pursuing the alleged assailant then criminal charges are not likely and there is no need for a Minnesota Criminal Defense lawyer. If your friend is considering suing this individual to recover damages, then you likely need a civil attorney. However, whether your friend can and or should file a civil action is something that s/he should discuss with a lawyer over the phone or in person.
