Legal Question in Criminal Law in Minnesota
car accident
i was in a car accident april 29th and driving on a suspended license durin gthe car accident the motorcyclist hit my passenger back tire and flew off his bike and died instantly now sept 10th i have a court apperance and i tried to get a public deffender but they denied me, so is there any way i can show the judge or tell the judge that theres no way i could ever pay for a n attorney is there proof of bills or somethin gi can show him to get a public defender, and also i was getting charged with driving on a revoked license wreckless driving, and failing to yield so with all 3 charges what do u think will happen if i plea guilty to the driving after rev part but not the car accident part? i will take all blame for the drivin gon a revoked license but i honestly dont think it was my fault in the car accident. i dont know if i go to court by myself what i should do if i should just do what the prosecuter says and plead guilty even though im not cause it might get me a lesser sentencing or what?

Re: car accident - death, DAR, reckless driving, fail to yield
You might check with the Public Defender's Office, their website, or a phone call or visit; and also Court Administration at the courthouse. I believe there is an opportunity provided to contest an initial determination of ineligibility, though since I am a private lawyer, I don't know what that is.
As for what you should do with your case, the most important thing is to have a good lawyer represent you. It is not possible to provide legal advice without a personal meeting, at least, to get as many known facts as possible. Be aware that this case could not only result in a criminal conviction, but loss of your drivers license for some period of time.
