I was charged with Domestic Abuse in August. I have had Three different Public Defenders since then. I asked the sheriffs dept. to take my statement. So many things to say on this. Just need help sorting out what I should do

Do not talk to the Sheriff's Office unless your attorney directs you to. It's highly unlikely that your lawyer would ever advise you to do so. You have the option of retaining private counsel if you're dissatisfied with your current counsel.

Hello. First attorneys are not to be soliciting clients except only pursuant to very strict rules of licensure - one principle is that we don't want 'sleazy ambulance chasers', 'sleazy chiropractors', out loose preying upon vulnerable folks, as you so very obviously are. It is misconduct to violate rules of licensure & subjects the offender to discipline as well as other potential penalty (depending upon the particular facts). Attorneys may be privately disciplined, publicly censured, lose their license depending upon the facts of the matter.

I urge you: Choose a very well experienced, reputable attorney to help you. She will want you to describe what has happened to-date. She will want you to describe your statement about you 'reaching out to sheriff'. She can counsel you & guide you.

If you reside in a somewhat remote part of MN, be aware that a few of us routinely make very special arrangements to provide quality attorney help to such folks. Also, a few of us will consider financial hardship in fees.

I urge you to make arrangements for help from a reputable & qualified attorney right away, today, by day end. I urge you to do that prior to you choosing to make any further 'follow up' or contact with law enforcement. You understand perhaps that one role of people who work as peace officers (the police, sheriff's deputies) is to enforce laws.

Best to you & I hope you soon 'get over to the other side' & have whatever it is you are now facing be a part of your distant past !!

Terrific post !!

I understand your concerns. An assault charge can be very serious and, as a result, it is important to protect your record. I hve 24 years of experience in handling such cases. If you are seeking representation, I will be happy to walk you through the process and how I would approach it. One thing is certain., you should make NO STATEMENTS to police regarding this case.
