Legal Question in Criminal Law in Minnesota

I have a clean record, never even been pulled over. No NOTHING. At a bar, a girl hit me and my drink broke against her's and cut her face pretty bad. It was completely on accident, but I ended up in jail with a felony charge. There is no video footage and only a few witnesses, all who are HER friends.

What can I do?? Should I have my teachers, coworkers, etc write letters to the court about my demeanor?

I feel sick about the whole thing! I feel bad that she got really hurt, but I honestly didn't intend on even touching her, I just reacted in self defense.. Hope she's okay.

A felony assault is extremely serious and can carry with it prison sentences upon conviction. Letetrs written by family and friends serve no purpose unless you are convicted and facing a felony sentence. A strong defense is necessary and you present facts which may support a self defense claim and a defense to the crime of assault which requires an "intent" to commit the offense.

You should hire experienced legal counsel. This is not a simple matter. Moreover, it is a matter that can affect the rest of your life.
