Legal Question in Criminal Law in Minnesota

clerk or jail staff error?

I was sentenced to serve 15 days in jail, I did not turn myself in and was picked up on a warrant. The judge gave me an additional 15 days, I was taken directly to the jail. I had previously done 2 days, I figured I would end up doing 18 days after good time, however i was released after doing only 8 days. Will I be held accountable for the remaining 10 days? Will this bring more legal drama into my life?

Re: clerk or jail staff error?

It is rather strange that you were released after only 8 days on a thirty day sentence. Nonetheless, if it wa sa jail determination of the time, and it is recorded as time properly served in their records, you likely have little to worry about.

Normally with one-third off for "good time" 30 days executed should be 20 days in jail. It's difficult to guess why you were let out after only eight. In some counties people get released early based on a decision to make room in the jail or save money.
