Is it possible to fire a court appointed lawywer and get another lawyer if you think your lawyer is not representing you correctly?

Yes.

You may always change attorneys. If you retain a new lawyer, your prior lawyer will transfer your file and a substitution of counsel will be executed.

Yes. You always have the right to fire your lawyer, and replace them with another lawyer. If you are going to hire a private lawyer to replace your public defender, of course someone will need to come up with funds for that purpose. If you can't pay a private lawyer to replace your public defender, you could try to convince your public defender or his-her supervisor to provide you a different public defender.
