How can I expunge a petty misdimeanor frm my record, so it will not show up on a criminal background check?

Thank you for your question regarding expundgement of a prior offense from your record.
Your question inquires about the expungement of a petty misdemeanor. A petty conviction is a quasi criminal offense -- because you cannot be sent to jail if you are convicted. Nevertheless, the expungement of this offense, like any other offense, requires that you file a petition for expungement under Minnesota Statues section 609A.03. Because of a relatively new statute, it is almost impossible to expunge conviction records. I suggest that you call a criminal defense attorney in your community for more information.
