Legal Question in Criminal Law in Minnesota
Federal Defenders
My son is in a low prison camp on a drug distribution charge... he was sentenced. What is the expectation we should have of our public defender and expected communication regarding his case. I call and email her and no response???

Re: Federal Defenders
Unfortunately, the client is your son. That means any communication that is required would be with your son. In amny instances, the attorney would expect your son to relay any messages to you rather than speaking weith you directly.
Public defenders are very busy and are less likely to make calls to family memebers and cannot even discuss issues with you unless your son, the client, specifically allows them to do so. The issues are otherwise confidential.
