Legal Question in Criminal Law in Minnesota

Felony Theft Charged

I'm being charged with theft around 1200 dollars. I was at a friends wedding reception and stole the wedding card basket (yes horrible) Also I suffer from mental health problems and have been under tons of stress when it happened. Anyways everything was returned (via mail and UPS) and was told that everything was just fine if everything was returned. Not I'm being charged becuase something never got returned and nobody will tell me what is missing. so now I am going to the USPS and asking for missing mail. But I've got a clean record, good job, a daughter, husband etc. My husband is going to be leaving for basic training around the time of my court date. I would like to know how I can get this charge dismissed, or have a plea bargain for something lesser, i'm willing to pay restitution, take classes, community service anything please help?? I don't want the rest of my life screwed because of one mistake (very very bad mistake) who can give me an answer and who can help me out. I have very little in assets becuase of medical debt and school loans so if anyone can help this would be great!!! I will give more details if needed Thanks for all of the hekp

Re: Felony Theft Charged

Unfortunately, given the amount in controversy, you were likely charged with a felony offense. Often, with the assistance of counsel, however, on a first offense, you may qualify for a Stay of Prosecution where, if you remain law abiding for a defined period of time, the charges may be dismissed. Certainly, issure related to mental health can be considered.

Ihave over 17 years of experience in such matters. For a consultation call 612.240.8005.

Re: Felony Theft Charged

I strongly suggest that you either a) hire an attorney ASAP or b) Apply for a public defender at the time of your first court appearance. This is too serious to deal with over the internet.
