Legal Question in Criminal Law in Minnesota
Felony Theft
What is the crime here and/or what can I do to get this taken care of?
Sold items that I didn't have on paypal and buyers contacted a detective. I have since (before charges have been filed) paid almost and in a week all will be paid back.

Re: Felony Theft
Even if all proceeds are returned, the act of taking the money without an intent to delive the goods can be charged out as a crime. If the amount in controversy was over $500, it would be charged out as a felony.
You should make no statements to law enforcement or investigators. Contact us for a consultation immediately.
Re: Felony Theft
The situation you describe is a crime -- theft, or similar criminal statutes could apply. It is important not to provide evidence that could be used to prosecute and convict you of a crime. At the very least, do not speak to police. It would be best to retain a good criminal lawyer as soon as possible to advise and help protect you. Call me if you wish to discuss this.
