Legal Question in Criminal Law in Minnesota

friends girlfriend

I have a friend who is in dating a 17 year old girl. He is 25 years old himself. He was convicted of 5th degree crim sex in 2000. He would like to know if it is ok for them to be dating? Also is it legal for them to be living together with his father. Also would it be ok for them to engage in sexual contact? He is not a person of authority. And i dont believe a significant other if he is a friend. Any help defining significant other more clearly. Or is it best that they wait 4 months til shes 18.

It is certainly not a wise idea. However, the conduct is not illegal unless he has conditions on his status as a sexual offender which precludes contact with minors in an unsupervised setting.
