Re: Gun control
Whether a felony conviction is traffic-related or not makes no difference. In my experience, most people don't really know what sort of conviction they have, felony or not, or even if they have a conviction at all. I recommend getting a print out of your court computer record, and bringing it to a criminal lawyer for review in a brief office consultation. It may be that you have no conviction at all, or that it is not a felony conviction. For example, a "felony CHARGE" where the sentence was never imposed ("Stay of imposition" successfully completed) is NOT a felony conviction under Minnesota law. Also, one can ask a court to vacate a conviction, and, if granted, then one has no conviction on record at that point. There are too many possibilities for relief to list them all here. Realistically, they all will involve hiring a lawyer to do legal work. So the question may be whether it is worthwhile enough to you. And as always, much depends on the specific facts of your case.
