Legal Question in Criminal Law in Minnesota
Hit Pedestrian
what are the criminal charges that I could
expect for hitting a pedestrian. No alcohol
or drugs were involved, no speeding.
Police says pedestrian was in crosswalk
and I know he was not, also it was dark
@5:45 am.

There are many possibilities. It could be as minor as reckless driving and as signficant as criminal vehicular operation which is a felony.

Felony "criminal vehicular operation" in Minnesota can be alleged where there is evidence of "gross negligence" plus personal injuries. If the pedestrian suffered injuries, this criminal charge could be possible. Misdemeanor "careless driving" can be alleged against a driver where there is evidence the driver drove in careless disregard of others safety. Those two seem the most likely, though there are others. In addition to criminal penalties, loss of drivers license could also result if convicted.
