Legal Question in Criminal Law in Minnesota

if the law gets a search warrant to come to your house to look for stolen items that are listed on the search warrant. after they find the things on the search warrant but also found other things such as drugs. can you still be charged with the drugs because they were only supposed to be looking for the things listed.

Yes, you can be charged with possession, provided the search did not go beyond the scope of the warrant. If the warrant allowed the police to search your home for certain stolen property, and in the ordinary course of conducting that search the police discover illegal drugs, they can certainly charge you with possession. I would need to review the search warrant, among other things. If you do not already have a lawyer, you should consider hiring one, or apply for a public defender if you are eligible. Depending on the nature of the drugs, and the quantity, the possession charge could be very serious.
