Legal Question in Criminal Law in Minnesota
need some legal advice... i have a co-worker whom I was gonna buy a pool table from, gave him a down payment ($250 by check which he cashed immediately) has since sold the table to another co-worker for full asking price, and refuses to return my money. I want to press charges for theft

Law enforcement are likely to view it as a civil matter best handled in Conciliation Court (small claims).

You may call the police and report this incident. Do not use 911, but use the non-emergency number. Most likely, however, the police will tell you this is a civil and not a criminal matter. Thus, you would have to pursue your claim in small claims court.
