Legal Question in Criminal Law in Minnesota
how long before a person is charged?
My 17 year old son was arrested and questioned when his friend fired my son's air soft gun in the yard. the police releasd him when all parties were questioned. They told us the case would go to the DA and he would notify us thru the mail as to the charges. It has been 8 days, How will we have to wait to here something? Is there any way for us to find something out without aggrevating the situation?

Re: how long before a person is charged?
Probably not. Generally it is best to wait silently; as well as avoid any statements to police. In the meantime, the son could work on "post-offense rehabilitation," just in case.
