Legal Question in Criminal Law in Minnesota
Mail Tampering?
Recently, when getting my mail after work, I noticed that somebody (most likely a neighbor) deliberately placed an empty glass bottle into our mailbox. Is this considered tampering with mail? Is there anything I can do?

Re: Mail Tampering?
In general, it is a crime to place trash or other objects in a mail receptacle. Depositing waste in your mail box, while possibly illegal, and certainly inappropriate, is not mail tampering. Even if you know who did this, it is unlikely any action would be taken unless it was a pattern of behavior, and the perpetrator was known.
