Legal Question in Criminal Law in Minnesota
I'm in Minnesota- I am in my year probation for a stay of adjudication, my probation will be up in June. I am currently seeking employment and need to know how to answer the question' "have you every plead guilty or been convicted of a crime?" I keep seeing conflicting information regarding a stay of adjudication, whether it shows up on a background, is it the same as a guilty plead and so on. Can someone please steer me in the right direction, as to how to answer to this situation now and also after June, when my probation is up.

Normally a stay of adjudication means a guilty plea was made. As to your particular case and your particular employment application question wording, I would want to review matters for myself in order to provide a legal opinion. If it is a Stay of Adjudication, you did enter a plea of Guilty. The plea is not entered and is withheld for the probationary period
