Legal Question in Criminal Law in Minnesota

minor taken out of state

Recently my 17 year old son went to Texas. HE has told me that he was going to Deluth to help clean a cabin. I talked to his friend and coworker a 28 year old about the trip and everything seemed to be fine. I received the cell phone bill and I realized that my son's phone was in Texas during those days. He finally confessed that they had gone to TExas instead that Deluth. My question is Can a put a restraining order or do something to stop that from happening??

Thank you very much

Re: minor taken out of state

I understand you are concerned that your son, age 17, went to Texas without your permission. I assume he went there voluntarily. If so, this is not a criminal matter. Moreover, I'm not certain what benefit a restraining order would accomplish. If he was taken against his will, and forcibly transported to Texas, that would be a criminal matter and a complaint should be filed with the police. However, it sounds as though you are really concerned that he left the state without your permission, and there is little the law can do to assist you in this matter.
