Legal Question in Criminal Law in Minnesota

Misdemeanor types....

Concerning a disorderly conduct summons charging for something that was never witnessed but assumed regarding a driver that cut me off numerous times in which I pulled over to inquire about his poor driving habits where this driver got out of his car with a knife and approached me when I had him arrested afterwards; I was given this summons several months later. I was never ticketed for anything nor should I have been as I did not do anything. The DA assumes I did along with the driver whom was arrested and is charged with assault. My record is clean and I don't need a misdemeanor charge on it. I don't know what kind of misdemeanor it would be however. My question is what if anything should I expect to happen once I plead innocent? Would it likely be a long drawn out process with a jury involved for something so trivial and ridiculous? Before I hire an attorney I need to understand and know my options.

I would be happy to talk to you on the phone to try to help you understand the legal process, and your options. You might look at my website:

for soem discussion of what to expect in court.

You are right to want to keep your record clean, since this is quite a valuable asset. The best approach in my view to to analyze the legal problem, known and potential solutions; then set a goal for a desired outcome (i.e. "expungeable outcome"). Then, go to court and fight just as long and hard as it takes to acheive that outcome, but no longer.
