Legal Question in Criminal Law in Minnesota
Outstanding Warrant
I have an outstanding warrant for failure to pay fines for a open bottle offense and driving after drinking (not a d.u.i). I couldn't pay the fines by the appointed date so a warrant for my arrest was issued. I now have money and wish to pay the fines without facing jail time. Is there anything I can do?

Re: Outstanding Warrant
I would suggest calling the probation office for the court of conviction, and speaking to your probation officer or the officer-of-the-day. Explain the problem, and that you now have the money to pay. Ask them if it will be possible to pay the fines without facing arrest, and if so, how. They might still make you come in to court for a probation revocation hearing, but might or might not let you come in for it on a summons instead of "in custody" after arrest.
