Legal Question in Criminal Law in Minnesota

What happens if police all your parents if your over 18?

I was recently given a citation for underage consumption of alcohol and paraphernalia. The police called my house and told my parents of this. I am over 18 but not 21. Are there any consequences to the police officer that did this? Isnt police telling someone other that the individual who was caught illegal?

This is not a criminal law question, but really concerns the civil law regarding defamation and other civil wrongs. Even though I am not a personal injury lawyer, but a criminal lawyer, I will make a few comments.

First, beware that the statutes of limitations are short, and could be two years or less from the date of injury resulting from an intentinal act in Minnesota. Also, there may be laws limiting your right to make a claim against a government body or official, perhaps six months or less in some cases in Minnesota. Therefore, be aware that time is of the essence and that you should contact a lawyer willing to fully investigate and research your claim and your rights as soon as possible, if you are interested in making a claim.

I have seen news report of persons suing police officers for defamation or invasion of privacy, or other civil wrongs, related to discussing the alleged traffic violation of a celebrity with the news media in Minnesota.
