Legal Question in Criminal Law in Minnesota
The police served a search warrant for drugs repeatedly and the sixth raid in 7yrs they found a pistol I failed to have registered. At that time I had no criminal record although a female they had noy yet allowed to leave was a witness to them expressing anger cause no drugs were recovered during search! much to my disbealef I was not being able like everytime before being able to go back in home with no arrest. I was arrested and taking to jail and charged with 5th degree controlled sub.???? now a felon and not guilty I served my sentence I was forced to accept! I was again served with a search warrent for drugs and my dog who meant the world to family and friends with shot six times and killed! my dog wasnt being in anyway aggresive towards them he was shot cause he was a american pittbull terrier which they stated to me was the kind that drug dealers use to gaurd the drugs. I am so heart broke about my dog I cant even deal with my day to day! I was able to deal and except that the police had me falsely charged with a felony! I always been told by people regaurding these raids to challenge police would prove worthless and give more reason for being a target of harrasment! I would let it go,but now after killing my dog who truly my best friend, then as usual finding no drugs or any reason to arrest me I wonder and fear who they might shot if they return! can they do this? help please!

Based on the details you provided it appears that you may have a claim under 1983. It would be important for you to gather all the documents you have concerning the previous search warrants, convictions, and the death of your dog. I would then suggest you contact a civil rights attorney to discuss your case. Many of these cases are accepted on a contingency basis if the claim is strong enough.
