Legal Question in Criminal Law in Minnesota
Ok, I posted this once before and I guess I didn't explain my question correctly or enough. (-: A boy friend is living with his girl friend. Boy friend is a convicted felon and on probation right now (drug charges 5 times). Girl friend now owns a handgun. I am not sure she has a permit for it or not. What I want to know is it legal for the boyfriend (on probation) to be living under the same roof (with my 2 grandchildren & the mother (the felon's girl friend)? BTW he is on disability for a mental problem. My concern is for my grand kids, thus the reason I am posting here. Our county is no help with this at all. I am worried he is "going to "lose it" and ...... Don't know where to turn before it's too late...

If the boyfriend is prohibited from possessing a firearm he could be looking at some big problems if it is found and he has access to it. It could a probation violation and a new crime. Felons often have girlfriends purchase guns for them (as a strawman.) This will not stop the prosecution at all. Ownership doesn't matter much at all. Is there a reason you haven't spoken to the mother/girlfriend, she could be looking at charges too.
