Legal Question in Criminal Law in Minnesota
probation violation
My brother was picked - up last night for being in a bar drinking while on a no bar or drink order. The question he has is itlegal for law enforcement officers to come into a bar upon recieving a call for someone saying that he is in a bar, without a search warrant or the bar owners permission. wouldn't be hearse.The person who called him in was not at the bar and called it in. Thank you for any information. concerned Sister.

Assuming the bar was open to the public (not closed for a private event or the like), then like any person, generally a cop can walk into a bar or other place where the public is welcome. In that situation, a search warrant would not be required. However, your brother's criminal defense lawyer may be able to find other defenses or mitigating factors that could help him.
