Legal Question in Criminal Law in Minnesota

How do I recant a dtatement without a lawyer. Do I have to make a subsequential statement or can I recant and leave it at that? If so how would I do it. I cant afford a lawyer.

I am not exactly what you situation is but you can't just recant your statement. It is not like you can just go to the police or prosecutor and say, "oh, I did not mean to say that," and everything is going to be okay. If you are the defendant you could be found to have supplied false information. If you are the alleged victim you may be found to have falsely reported a crime.

If you are charged with an offense, it is unwise to make any statement, whether it is a recantation or not, unless that occurs at trial. Making any statement may prejudice your rights.
