Legal Question in Criminal Law in Minnesota

receipt of child pornography removal

In 2006 i was charged with receipt of child porn...it took them a year to formally charge me and before they did they KNEW there was a trojan virus on my computer...i was grilled to confess and plead guilty but i refused to do that when i was innocent. the charges were dropped but it is still showing up on my criminal background check that i was arrest for child porn. i cant even get a job at a gas station because when the back ground check comes back no one will hire me. i need this removed from my record any way possible. i am working part time at a day labor job in minneapolis so i need either assistance or a reduced rate. please help me. i feel i am being punished for a crime that i did not even commit.

any advice would help greatly. thank you

If you were charged with a Minnesota state crime, but the charges were dismissed (without a guilty plea), then you should qualify for one or both of two types of statutory "expungement." One type would allow a sealing of records from public view. The other, better, type could result also in the return of photos, fingerprint records. Call me if you'd like to discuss my help with this.

Thank you for the post.

If you were charged, those charges will appear on your record and that same record will indicate that the charges weere dismissed. If the charges were dismissed, you would qualify for a Statutory Expungement which would allow you to seal any records related to the offense.
