Legal Question in Criminal Law in Minnesota
sheriff gave my truck to CI
help! My home was involved in a drug raid, all vehicles belonging to my boyfriend & I were seized with intent to forfit as well as $$, jewelery,2 briefcases (containing: business documents(for our towing co.)vehicle titles, bills, permits, birth certifiacates & misc papers), and other misc. property. There is a 60 period in which to file to get property back, but the officer in charge of investigation gave 1 of the vehicles & it's title to the CI involved in the case only days after the raid the title was forged by the CI & transfered 3 business days after raid. Now we came to an agreement in court to get property back they keep $$ and some of the documents, cellphones, security cameras (closed circut) we get vehicles jewelry and some documents. But my truck ?? Prosecuter said file ''unauthorized use of motor vehicle'' it's been almost 1 yr since the CI got it how do I get my truck back? Last I heard my truck was in Bemidji, Mn. And who do I file this with the same people who took & gave away my truck? They aren't really going to help me!? I mean they don't want to give my boyfriend the vehicles(in his name only)or anything else they took really, unless he shows up to claim it knowing he has an immagration warrent.

The situation you are attempting to describe sounds quite complicated, and is not clear from your question. You would be well advised to seek counsel from a good criminal lawyer, in person, in the lawyer's office, with all relevant documentation available.
Keep in mind that any rights you might have may deteriorate or be destroyed with the passage of time. Time is of the essence.
