Legal Question in Criminal Law in Minnesota

statute of limitation for bail jumping

What is the statute of limitation on a criminal manuafacture of marijuana case that had a sentence of two years but while waiting to report to the prison jumped bail. What is the statute of limitation for such a case and what is the penalty for obstruction of justice if caught after the statute of limitation has lapsed.

Statutes of Limitation apply only to how long a state has to file charges to prosecute a crime. Once it has been charged, there is no limitation period for prosecution. That is particularly true when a defendant has failed to appear on the charge.
