I was recently arrested at my school, with a few other kids. The arrest was due to the fact there was a robbery the other night, that i was NOT involved with in any way. It had snowed out and the tracks from the robery location led back to the school. I was at home with my girlfriend, and my mom when this robbery happened. They took my shoe's to match up for prints.(They won't match the robbery tracks)And they also took my fingerprints which they won't find at the robbery location. So basically i'm just curious how long this ordeal goes on, and what will come of me? Or do you have any advice? I told the police the honest truth about everything.

It is not a good idea to talk to police when you are a possible suspect of criminal activity. Human error happens, and so innocence is no guarantee that you won't be charged with a crime. But everything you say can be treated as a confession or admission, even if only to circumstances supporting a guilty theory or inference. It is best to remain silent, request a lawyer and a parent if under age 18, and don't consent to any searches.

The government is limited in time by the statute of limitations applicable to the crime charged -- generally some number of years, though a few crimes have no time limit.
