Legal Question in Criminal Law in Minnesota

summons via postal service

I received a summons to appear in court. What would have happened if it got lost in the mail? It states that if I do not appear there will be a warrent out for my arrest.

A Summons to court in a criminal case takes the place of an Arrest Warrant. If a person fails to show up in court in response to a criminal court Summons, whether mailed or handed to the person, the court normally issues an Arrest Warrant.

A summons is used to charge a criminal case. A failure to properly appear on a warrant, regardless of the reason, would result in the issuance of a warrant for your arrest for a non-appearance. You could be picked up and held in jail after that until bail and/or conditions of release can be set.

It didn't get lost in the mail, so you don't have to worry about that, do you?
