Legal Question in Criminal Law in Minnesota
theft
If a minor stole a snowmobile and 3 days later it was found. He never admitted to stealing it until over a year later after the case was closed, is there anything that can be done to him, legally so he pays for his crime?

Re: theft
Yes. He may still be charged with the offense a year later since teh Statute of limitations on the offense would not run for several more years.

Re: theft
The state could charge him with a criminal offense within the applicable statute of limitations period of years. The victim of the theft could sue the thief in civil court, for money damages.
