Legal Question in Criminal Law in Minnesota
Theft
I took money from my employer. I
was the manager and told them of
the event before they found out. I
quite my job and agreed to pay back
the money monthly. How Long do
they have to file a police report on
this matter.

The shortest statute of limitations period I know of for Minnesota state crimes is three years. Without knowing the specifics of your case, therefore, it's probably three years or more.

The statutes of limitation for any criminal charge would be a period of years. The term is generally longer for a felony than a misdemeanor. Whether your matter could be a misdemeanor, gross misdemanor or felony depends on the amount of the theft.
Any amount over $1000 would be a felony.
