Legal Question in Criminal Law in Minnesota

We had a truck left on our property 2yrs ago. My son sold it for scrap. When the owner noticed it was gone he wanted it back. We bought the truck back and had it towed to our home. The owner has picked it up but now says he may press charges for auto theft. Can he do that since he has the truck back?

It would be extremely unlikely for any police officer to seek charges basedf on the facts provided. First, if proper notice had been given, the property could have been considered abandoned and sold. Second, since the vehicle was on your property, the issue is likely a bailment issue which, if anything, is a civil matter whish has ben resolved.
