Legal Question in Criminal Law in Minnesota

warrant for a passeneger and search of auto

I had a warrent for my arrest and was riding in a car when it was pulled over. I was taken from car and then without consent they told the owner that they could search the car because i was a passenger in it. They took all money from others and found drugs in the car and I am being charged with intent to sell. Can they just search the car even though the driver did not have and violations?? Can they charge me with the drugs found when I was only a passenger?? They had earlier gone to the house I was staying at and was told that I was not there and attempted to enter by pushing their way into the door. They did not not know for sure if I was in the car when they pulled it over for a light being out, but only discovered me in the back seat after the stop and asking all of us for id's to run. Does this sound legal?? Why ask all for id's for a light burn out?? and then to search the car without permission sounds like our rights are slowly being terminated as law enforcment becomes more bold in how they conduct themselves. What is happening to our judicial system???
