Legal Question in Criminal Law in Minnesota
If I used to work at a camp, and was a person in a position of trust, does that authority continue on even after the term of employment at the camp has ended? As in, if there was a young lady there who was 14 and is now 17 am I still on the hook legally for having been a person in a position of trust? The question has presented itself because the girl in question has recently broached the subject of an ongoing relationship, and I have a feeling that at 22 I am not positive I know what my role is legally in this circumstance.
1 Answer from Attorneys
Since the relationship originated where the older person was in a position of trust. As a result, it is likely that criminal charges would be filed if there was sexual contact between the parties.
