My question is if the police department didn't investigate throughly and arrested the wrong person. The charges were then dissmissed what can be done, for all we went through and all the money lost?

Re: Wrongful arrest

I don't know about MN, but in Texas you are going to have to overcome sovereign immunity, and it is not a small hurdle. You will have to establish the failure to investigate by proof, not your opinion. You will also have to establish some serious negligence amounting to malice, for the wrong arrest. If you think you have sufficent evidence, and a liability attorney agrees with you, the attorney may represent you on a contingency. You should act quickly, however, since there may be administrative remedies that must be exhausted first, and there are usually strict deadlines.
