I Haven't lived in Minnesota for 22years and have an unblemished criminal record for the past 11 years. How can I get my drivers license back and move on with my life?

Re: Drivers license cancellation MN

It depends on why it was cancelled. The most common reason is as a result of a DWI. In most cases, for someone from out of state, this involves the payment of a $680 reinstatement fee. For more information you should call the Minnesota Department of Public Safety. My web site at http://www.mn-dwi.com has info on how to contact them.

This is for general information purposes only, is not legal advice, and does not create an attorney-client relationship. You should consult the attorney of your choice concerning the details of your case.

Your question does not provide much information to go on. In general, however, when your drivers license is revoked or otherwise denied you based upon events in a state other than the one in which you live, you need to satisfy the requirements of that state's drivers licensing department; or sometimes, file in court against them and win. The first way is usually faster, cheaper, and more certain to work - especially after much time has passed.

The agency of Minnesota in charge of drivers license is called the "Minnesota Department of Public Safety." You'll want to talk to their "Driver Evaluator" division.
