Legal Question in DUI Law in Minnesota

Minor Consumption 3rd offense

Alright I received my third minor consumption violation. I am 20 and this is my third offense in under 2 years. I know that I have to appear in court at the date but i was wondering what kind of punishments are the courts handing out lately for these types of violations. The cop that gave me the minor said that it would probably end up being an alcohol assesment and then depending on what they said. Is this what they have been doing for a third offense. And if it is not what they have been doing what are some of the other decisions that you

have heard of happening. and then if they are requiring alcohol assessments can it lessen the penalty from the court if you do things like that before the court requires you to do it?

And this has nothing to do with driving or a vehicle at all.

Re: Minor Consumption 3rd offense

It is a misdemeanor punishable by up to 90 days in jail and a $1000 fine. It may also be a probation violation on your previous offense(s) which means the sentencing Judge on those cases may impose any sentence previously stayed. That would mean jail time is a very real possibility.

You would be wise to hire legal counsel.
