Reviewing Minn. Stat. 628.26, it would seem that the limitation period is 3 years, provided you remain a resident of the state during that entire time. This means they cannot bring a complaint against you after 3 years from the date this happened. To give you some idea of why your court date did not reach the courthouse, I would need to know more about your case - Method of testing, who pulled you over, who would be prosecuting you.
I would also caution you - if you were given a blood, breath, or urine test, your results would most likely be sent to the Department of Public Safety. In other words, even if you weren't prosecuted (say, the ticket got lost on the way to the courthouse - remarkably, it DOES happen every now and again), those results could cause the the DPS to suspend or revoke your license, and if you picked up another DWI later, that revocation would count as a prior DWI.
