Legal Question in DUI Law in Minnesota

Out of State DUI

I recently recieved a DUI in Lamoure, ND while my gaurd unit was activated for flood relief. I have already been to court there, and my driving privleges were suspended in North Dakota for 90 days. I am wondering if this will come back to minnesota and it will also get suspended here? I spoke with NDDOT on the phone today and they said they can only suspend me from driving in ND. It has been about a month now and have not heard anything from MN. I graduate from college June 3rd and am actively interviewing so I would like to know if I should be telling potential employers that my MN liscense may be suspended. Thanks for any help!

Re: Out of State DUI

The question is whether ND will report the conviction to MN. Someone at the clerk's office at the courthouse where you plead guilty should be able to tell you.

The reporting is usually required by an interstate compact that most states have signed. I just googled that compact, however, and see that North Dakota apparently is one of the few states not included. This creates the possibility that it will never be reported, but I would not count on that.

I would be concerned that eventually having your right to drive revoked anywhere in this country will catch up to you. The best thing to do would be to get reinstated to drive in North Dakota. They would have a procedure for that. If you can't figure it out on your own, find the help of a ND lawyer.

Re: Out of State DUI

If you have a Minnesota license the offense will likely be reported in Minnesota and you would lose your driving privileges in Minnesota for 90 days.
