Public written comments re HS Football player by coach and paper
My son was recently publicly shamed by a quote and article from the local paper. I have approached the coach and paper with no recourse. I am concerned about my son's emotional status and harm of his getting a college scholarship.

Most speech is protected by our Constitution. This would include any statements of opinion. It is only under rare circumstances that such commentary would constitute defamation or be actionable. Even if actionable, there must be some quantifiable damages in most cases.
