So if the order provides when the child should be with the father, you need to respect that aspect. Children do not get to chose where they want to live. It may be a factor in determining what is in the child's best interest, but it is not controlling or even carries more weight than any other factor. As a grandparent, you are going to have an uphill battle to have your grandson live with you if the father is opposed to it.
