Legal Question in Family Law in Minnesota

amending child custody

I would like to amend my divorce decree to add the following regarding the safety of my children; That should either parent become unable to care for minor children due to illness and extended hospital stays or take extended vacations without minor children, that the primary custodial parent be allowed to care for the minor children if immediate family members cannot until such time the other parent is able to provide direct care. How do I amend my divorce decree to allow this? Is ther a form I can file? Do I need a lawyer? any information would be greatly appreciated!

Re: amending child custody

You will have to make a motion unless you can get your ex to agree in writing. If you are sophisticated enough regarding legal procedures you certainly have the right to make your own motion. If not, call me. Dennis.
