Legal Question in Family Law in Minnesota

annulment v divorce

Person A and Person B met on the internet in Dec 2008. They physically met on Feb. 13, 2009, and got married Feb 17, 2009. Person B wants an annulment after 1 week, while Person A wants a divorce. Person B has a lot of money and assets. Does Person A have a claim to any of Person B's assets? Can Person B get an annulment without the cooperation from Person A?

Re: annulment v divorce

It is fairly difficult to get an annulment, but without knowing the grounds for annulment, it is touch to answer this question. Additionally, person A doesn't automatically get to have half of person's B's assets by virtue of marrying Person B. Considering the duration of the marriage, Person A probably is not going to get anything, unless something was actually acquired during that time.
