Legal Question in Family Law in Minnesota
Do aunts have a legal right to visitation?
I was wondering if an aunt has a legal right to be able to see her nephew? My nephew is living with his grandparents on his father's side and I feel that I have no right to see him.

Re: Do aunts have a legal right to visitation?
The answer depends on your relationship with the minor child. As you may know grandparents have rights to visitation separate and distinct from the parents. Also, persons with a "kinship" relationship may have visitation rights if they have cared for the child for an extended period of time. This area of law is developing rapidly. For the most part, the "best interests" of the child control.
